PLAYPHONE PARTNERS WITH THE NATIONAL FILM AND TELEVISION SCHOOL
PlayPhone, the global mobile entertainment company, has today announced it will become the official mobile partner of the National Film and Television School.
The partnership will see PlayPhone working closely with the animation students at the school as part of the course curriculum. Students will create animated mobile content for submission to PlayPhone and their course tutors, and one winning student will launch their content on PlayPhone’s mobile entertainment service.
Martin Bowley, Managing Director at PlayPhone has said: “Mobile content is a rapidly growing industry, with more content and media owners looking at ways to enter the mobile market. PlayPhone collaborating with the NFTS offers the students great experience with this medium in a real commercial environment and the opportunity to produce original content for our subscribers.”
All animation students will create a storyboard for the first episode of an animated mobisode series, along with their vision for future installments. This will include character design, history and motivation, a script for the first episode and a story arc for the creation of a further five mobisodes.
The overall winning student will be commissioned by PlayPhone to create six animated episodes of their series that PlayPhone will then edit and transcode to mobile format for commercial release to its 250 000 subscribers in early 2008.
Helen Nabarro at the NFTS added: “We are always looking for ways to ensure our students are exposed to new and innovative media formats. The opportunity to work with PlayPhone has given the NFTS access to an exciting and growing medium providing invaluable experience for many of our students who will go on to work within the mobile content generation industry.”
